Experience the ultimate Nepal adventure on the Tsum Valley Manaslu Trek. Explore sacred monasteries, the iconic Larkya La Pass, and stunning Himalayan peaks. Itinerary Details
The Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit offer a profound journey through one of Nepal’s most pristine “off the beaten path” regions, where the eighth-highest peak, Mt. Manaslu (8,163m / 26,780 ft), dominates the skyline. While the Manaslu Circuit is a premier high-altitude adventure that circles the massif, the Tsum Valley serves as a secluded, culturally distinct branch that leads trekkers into a “Hidden Valley” of deep spiritual significance. Together, they form a trekking corridor in the northern Gorkha district that transitions from lush subtropical jungles and terraced farmlands into the stark, dramatic alpine landscapes of the north-central Himalayas, offering a rare sense of solitude far from the crowded trails of Everest or Annapurna.
The Tsum Valley provides a quieter, more self-contained experience shaped by the traditions of the Tsumba people. It is a sacred hidden valley place where Tibetan Buddhism is practiced with steadfast devotion and where ancient trade routes once thrived. The valley is famous for its unique “Kyimu Lung” pilgrimage sites and its commitment to non-violence, as hunting and slaughtering are prohibited within its boundaries. As you move through the valley, the landscape shifts from dramatic, narrow gorges to sprawling, fertile plains framed by the towering Ganesh Himal and Shringi Himal ranges. Unlike the high-traffic thoroughfares of other Nepalese treks, Tsum remains steadfast in its traditions, characterized by the presence of ancient monasteries like Mu Gompa and Rachen Gompa.
In contrast, the Manaslu Circuit, often referred to as the Larke Pass Trek, is celebrated for its staggering biodiversity and its ultimate physical challenge: crossing the Larke La Pass (5,106 m / 16,750 ft). Over the course of 14 to 18 days, travelers experience an untamed wilderness that feels like a step back in time. Because of its proximity to the Tibetan border, the upper reaches of the trail are a living museum of ancient Buddhist customs. Trekkers are immersed in a landscape punctuated by fluttering prayer flags, intricately carved Mani walls, and centuries-old monasteries, all while navigating the deep river valleys that define this rugged terrain. We spend essential acclimatization nights in Samagaun and from Samagaun, we can hike to Manaslu Base Camp.
Unlike the more famous routes, Tsum Valley and Manaslu offers:

Expect hearty, straightforward trekking fare designed to keep your energy levels up.
