Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trek

Phaplu to Everest Base Camp Trek is a great way to explore more villages in lower Khumbu. This route is the best alternative in case of bad weather in Lukla, as flights from Kathmandu to Lukla can sometimes be disrupted for several days. We offer a well-managed trip to the Everest Base Camp via Phaplu at an affordable price. Normally, the Everest Base Camp trek takes 12 days via Lukla, but if you start via Phaplu, it will take 15 days.

Phaplu and Salleri are administrative areas of the Solukhumbu district. We use a jeep to travel from Kathmandu to Phaplu, and now you can drive further to Ringmu. The road extends up to Kharikhola, and you will enjoy the frequently switching back road and beautiful landscape. Ringmu is a Sherpa village where the classic route Jiri – Everest joins. This classic route has been used for trekking and Everest expeditions for several years. From Ringmu, the trail ascends to Takshindu and descends Dudhkoshi River. You will explore mountains, monasteries, villages, and terrace fields. Popular villages include Ringmu, Takshindu, Nunthala, Jubhing, Paiya, Surke, and Chaurikharka. The trail from Lukla joins the route in Cheplung, and you can see many trekkers on the trail whether you start from Phaplu or Salleri.
