Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Overview

Ghorepani (Ghodepani) Poon hill Trek is shorter, easier and beautiful. We can see Annapurna I (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) at 6,790 m and more peaks across the horizon.
This Poon Hill trek starts and ends in the scenic valley at Pokhara city. It leads through many traditional Gurung and Magar villages. Gurungs and Magars have a glorious identity as the source of the Gurkha military recruited under the British. They have their own distinct language, culture and tradition.
Annapurna I (8,091 m / 26,545 ft), Annapurna South (7,219 m / 23,693 ft), Gangapurna (7,455 m / 24,457 ft), Annapurna III (7,555 m / 24,787 ft), Mt Machhapuchhre or Fishtail (6,999 m), Mt Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and many peaks can be observed with the sunrise view from Poon Hill.
Trekking in the Annapurna will not only open your eyes to scenes of great beauty, but enables you to build relationship with different community and culture.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft above sea level), transfer to hotel
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m / 2,690 ft) 6-7 hours
Day 3: Drive to Nayapul (1.5 hours) and trek to Tikhedhunga (1,540 m / 5,050 ft) 4-5 hours
Day 4: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,860 m / 9,383 ft) (6-7 hours)
Day 5: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,300 ft) to Tadapani (2,630 m / 8,630 ft) (7-8 hours)
Day 6: Tadapani to Ghandruk (2,170 m / 7,120 ft) and Landruk (1,565 m /5,135 ft) 6-7 hours)
Day 7: Landruk to Kande (1,770 m/ 5,681 ft) / 8,530 ft) and drive to Pokhara (820 m / 2,690 ft) 5-6 hours

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft above sea level), transfer to hotel

Welcome to Nepal Himalaya, we meet in Kathmandu airport and will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m / 2690ft) 6-7 hours

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820 m / 2690ft) 200 km, 7-8 hours

Day 3: Drive from Pokhara to Ulleri (1760 m / 5770ft) 3-4 hours

After a wonderful stay in the world’s popular tourist spot in Pokhara, than two hours drive leads to Ulleri Village.

Day 4: Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,860m / 9,383 ft) 6-7 hours

After breakfast, we hike into serene green forest of oaks-pines and rhododendron and reach at Ghorepani- Deurali village. Ghorepani or Ghodepani is famous and popular for hiking to Poon Hill, a view point offering super views of world’s high mountains with striking sunrise and sunset.

Day 5: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3,210 m / 10,300 ft) to Tadapani (2,630m / 8,630ft) (7-8 hours)

We will reach Poonhill before sun rising. Poon hill is popular visitor’s park for Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalaya range. We can observe the deepest George between too high mountains Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. We can see many mountains, valleys, ridges and forest from Poonhill. After enjoying there, we return back to Ghorepani. After breakfast in Ghorepani, we trek to Tadapani

Day 6: Tadapani to Ghandruk (2,170m / 7,120ft) and Landruk (1,565m /5,135 ft) 6-7 hours)

Today we hike to popular village Ghandruk through the forest of rhododendron, oaks and pines trees. We will visit old village and museum in Ghandruk. After a nice time at Ghandruk village, we walk downhill for an hour to Modi River, then after crossing the bridge a steep climb up reaches to Landruk village.

Day 7: Landruk to Kande (1,770 m / 5,681 ft) / 8,530 ft) and drive to Pokhara (820 m / 2690ft) 5-6 hours

We walk through terraced farm fields and villages then uphill to Deurali ridge at 2,150 m. After Deurali another pleasant walk leads to Pothana village and Australian Camp. After Australian camp the trail descends to Kande. From Kande we will take private vehicle to get Pokhara.

Day 8: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft) 6-7 hours

Today in the morning we get tourist bus for Kathmandu. Ace Hiking offers farewell dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurant.

Day 9: Departure to international airport

Today you grab last minute shopping or other activities. We will drop you at the Kathmandu international airport 3 hours before your schedule flight. We will say goodbye with happy memories and hoping to see you again. Breakfast included.

Q1: How difficult is Ghodepani Poon Hill Trek?

Ghodepani Poon Hill Trek is an easier hike and shorter in duration in comparison to other popular trek. The Ghodepani Poon Hill Trek begins at an altitude of 800m/2,625 feet reaching elevations of maximum 3,210 m / 10,300 feet. Trekkers do not require technical training or rock climbing and mountaineering skills as the trek is basically a hike on low elevations in the green hills. You need to be physically fitness to hike 6 to 8 hours daily.

Q2: What is the best time to do the Ghodepani Poon Hill Trek?

The best months to do the Ghodepani Poon Hill Trek is January, February, March, April, May, September, October, November, and December. During these months, the weather is generally favorable with clear skies and mild temperatures, making for optimal trekking conditions and stunning mountain views.

Q3: Who are my Guides and Porters?

Our trekking guides are trained and hold a trekking guide license issued by the Nepalese government. All of our guides are local with a deep understanding of the mountains, culture, health and your safety. All of our guides are skilled, experienced, courteous and helpful. They are proficient in English and will be able to communicate effectively with you throughout the trip.

Q4: What type of Foods available during the trek?

You can get verity of meals including typical Nepali Dal Bhat (Rice, Curry and lentils), breads, noodles, soups, eggs, toast, potato varieties, pizza, pasta, burger items are common choices in the menu. Breakfast and dinner will be served from tea house or lodge where we stay overnight and lunch will be served on the way to next destination. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included during the trek; only breakfast is included in Pokhara.

Q5: What about Drinking Water?

Boiled water and safe drinking water options are available along the trekking route. We do not recommend you drink water from local sources such as taps, wells, and rivers.

Q6: What types of Accommodations available?

You will be accommodated in 3 or 2 star level hotel in Pokhara. During the trek, you will have a private room in guesthouses and lodges. In some cases, during peak season, you need to share a room with others.

Q7: Do I need Travel Insurance?

Yes, it is necessary to have insurance to join this Annapurna Circuit Trek. Your insurance should cover cost of Helicopter rescue and treatment.

Q8: Do I need Day Backpack?

Yes, while porters can carry the majority of your belongings, it’s recommended to carry a small day backpack yourself. This backpack can hold essentials such as drinking water, snacks, sunscreen, camera, sunglasses and any other items you may need easy access to during the day hike.

Q9: Is there Porter Luggage Limit?

Yes, trekkers should note that the luggage limit for a porter is 20kg, and typically, there is one porter assigned for every two trekkers. It’s advisable to pack efficiently and within this weight limit to ensure ease of transportation during the trek.

    Une belle aventure

    On a fait deux trecks avec Rai, l’un jusque Poon hill et l’autre de Luckla à Namche Bazar. Rai parle bien l’anglais, s’adapte à la vitesse de marche du groupe et en général c’est quelqu’un de très agréable et sympathique. Si je retourne au Népal je reprendrai de suite de nouveau Rai.
    En plus de ca c’est un excellent joueur, on a passé quelques soirées à jouer aux cartes.
